District land office Receivers were responsible for all financial transactions relating to the sale of public lands. These volumes contain miscellaneous financial records. Included are lists of land relinquished, transfers under the acts of 1826 and 1828, payments under the act of 1828 Mar. 21, relinquishments under the act of 1828 Mar. 21, forfeitures of the first class under the act of 1821 Mar. 2 and sales of public lands to sundries for tracts relinquished. These records document the work of the Receiver of Public Monies.

Under regulations approved on March 20, 1915, tracts set aside as villa sites under the provisions of an act of April 12, 1910, within the former Flathead Indian Reservation, Montana, were offered for sale at public auction, beginning at Polson, Montana, on July 26, 1915.
